@CARMINES @CUBA LIBRE AND HEEL OF THE WEEK!

FOOD FRENZY IN THE DISTRICT!

There's no shortage of great new restaurants popping up in the District. While the economy is still sluggish (even though we are apparently out of the recession) that's not stopping restaurants like CARMINE'S and CUBA LIBRE to set up shop and give Washingtonians what they really want--good food of course! Case in point: NYC's legendary family style italian restaurant Carmine's. But now we don't have to ride  the Acela Express to get those generous portions of home-style antipasto, pastas, seafood, and eggplant parmigiana. Now we can just head over to the Penn-Quarter area to satisfy our pasta cravings and sip on some aged chianti and savor the  essential oils of sambuca right in our own backyard.

Lisa Shapiro of Dining in DC  will be hosting the Food Blogger's Happy Hour this Wednesday at Carmine's.

OK I'm coming hungry and I hear they have "Flinstonian"  size portions  and the Frozen Cosmo apparently is a MUST--so don't worry-- DC on HEELS will keep you posted with great pics, video and the full rundown!

And if you are looking to satisfy your appetite without breaking the piggy bank then rumba on-over to 9th street for the preview opening of Cuba Libre. Cuba Libre will open with a new menu specifically developed for Washington, by Chef-Partner Guillermo Pernot.  You can get a 50% discount on dinner from October 1 until October 7! Then from October 8-13th you can get a 25% discount before they roll out the full price menu on October 14.

This hot new restaurant will feature 1950's Havana decor and live entertainment. A dining room fit to seat 200 patrons is decorated with murals of Cuban life. And don't leave without trying the extensive rum selection while sitting at the bar (I don't recommend that all in one sitting.) So many restaurants so little time. I better get going...

HEEL OF THE WEEK

I'm going to have to walk-off everything I eat at Carmines and Cuba Libre so why not do it in style? These Vivienne Westwood triple buckle stilettos are H-O-T. Wear them when you want to be bold and daring.  Here are the deets:
  • $164.00 dollars (but you save on shipping since it's free)
  • 2 1/2 " heel
  • Synthetic lining
  • Triple-buckle closure
  • Synthetic sole
  • Imported
  • 12.00 oz.

    Ciao besos
