It's funny how Hollywood and Cinco de Mayo can be so much alike.
You see, while the 5th of May is characterized by Mexico having won the battle and lost the war, so is the characterization of many celebrities who win and lose in the PR game every day.
Take for instance the little list below of recent winners and losers that I like to call the "Top 5 Cinco de "OMG!" Moments of 2010" (so far):
He won the PR battle after his much publicized sex scandal, but the "white hot" L.A. Laker loses points in the "likeability" war with this freakishly weird photo shoot for L.A. Times Magazine... Somewhere in the world, Shaq's gotta be having a good laugh right about now.
Just a few years ago Taylor Swift says she was an outsider in high school, according to various reports. But look at her now! The girl's got a hot new Cover Girl contract to go along with her hot record deal and rising movie career. I'd say she's a total winner (even though she may have lost the popularity battle that is high school).
Jay Leno may have won the battle with CoCo over "The Tonight Show," but now he is a total joke on the comedy circuit - what a loss. Even President Obama got his diggs in during the White House Correspondents Dinner when he said, "The only person who's ratings fell more than mine last year is here tonight. Great to see you Jay!"
O-M-G! Poor woman. Due to her newfound (unsolicited) celebrity, I'd say she's losing the battle and the war.
And now, (if you can shake the mental image from your head) how 'bout we end on a high note with one last Cinco de OMG! winner:
They broke all Bravo TV records by raking in the highest ratings the 'Housewives' franchise had ever seen... and now they're back to do it all over again. No table flippin' this season, though... but I do hear that the cops will be involved.
Love 'em or hate 'em, they are winning in the Reality TV game over and over again.
